A residential builder working across the Northern Rivers NSW — new builds, renovations, extensions and decks, from Byron Bay and Ballina through to the hinterland.
McFadden Building is a residential builder based in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. We take on a small number of projects at a time — new home builds, renovations, extensions, decks and outdoor areas — so each one gets the detailing it deserves.
Our work runs the length of the region: the coastal stretch from Byron Bay, Suffolk Park and Broken Head down through Lennox Head, Ballina and Alstonville, north to Brunswick Heads and Ocean Shores, and inland through Bangalow, Newrybar, Ewingsdale, Mullumbimby, Clunes, Federal and the surrounding hinterland communities. Working locally means we understand what the climate, the soil and the councils here ask of a build.

The builder
Tom has spent twelve years on the tools and running jobs across a wide range of styles and sizes — decks and small renovations through to extensions and full custom homes. That range means he can read a project quickly: what it will really take to build, and where the detail needs to land.
He works with a tight circle of local trades and suppliers built up over those years across the Northern Rivers, from the Byron and Ballina coast through to the Bangalow and Clunes hinterland. Those connections keep sites moving and keep the standard consistent.
What sets his work apart is a meticulous eye for detail — the junctions, the joinery, the lines you only notice when they have been done properly. Every project he takes on, he runs personally.

A high-end new build in the Byron hinterland, defined by detailed timber and stone finishes — high vaulted ceilings, a fieldstone hearth and French doors opening the living space onto a deep, verandah-shaded lawn.
